Dr. Maritza Suarez, a native Floridian, who received both her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Miami. She graduated in 2000 with a dual degree in biomedical engineering and physics. After graduating from medical school in 2004, she completed her internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was recruited as faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2007 as a primary care physician. Her early faculty career was focused heavily on both clinical practice and medical education.

She saw patients daily as a primary care provider at the University of Miami’s general medicine faculty practice and supervised internal medicine residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Since becoming the Chief Medical Informatics Officer in 2018, she continues her outpatient medical practice and focuses on innovative technologies to support the delivery of medical care and improved quality of care.
