Marit Sijbrandij PhD

Prof. Dr. Marit Sijbrandij is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Department of Clinical, Neuro- and Developmental Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is conducting scientific research aimed at the development and evaluation of psychological interventions for mental disorders resulting from experiencing traumatic and adverse events. Her research evolves around the prevention and treatment of mental disorders following trauma and adversities in a global context. She has performed randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in the field of prevention and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other common mental disorders resulting from the experience of extremely negative events, both in the Netherlands as well as in low- and middle-income countries.
