Dr. Mario Mezler was born in Bad Mergentheim in 1969. After studying biology at the University of Stuttgart-Hohenheim, interrupted by study visits to the University of Massachusetts and Cornell University, he received his doctorate in 1999 from the Institute for Physiology at the University of Stuttgart-Hohenheim. After working for Bayer AG, he joined what was then Abbott GmbH & Co KG in Ludwigshafen in 2001, first as a laboratory manager and later as a project and group manager. He has been a Principle Scientist at AbbVie Deutschland GmbH & Co KG since 2014.
Dr. Mezler has been teaching pharmacology at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences since 2010 as part of the international master’s degree in Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biotechnology. Many of his students were able to continue their careers successfully in companies or with a doctorate. dr Mezler is also involved with lectures on professional development and the role of managers in companies and has been a member of the Industrial Advisory Board of the Faculty of Biotechnology since 2011. In this role, he advises the faculty on the further development of teaching and research content. Under his leadership, the Association of Friends has expanded its offerings and created an alumni network and career portal. These initiatives allow the university to network more extensively with companies in the region.
