Marilynne Kirshbaum is currently the Head of Nursing in the School of Health at Charles Darwin University.Prof. Kirshbaum joined CDU as Professor and Head of Nursing in October 2014, and she is strongly committed to promoting excellence in nursing research and teaching. Prof. Kirshbaum's goal is to enable, motivate and inspire others to follow her path through integrity, compassion, truth and intelligence.

Kirshbaum is a native New Yorker who started her career as a nurse in New York City at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital, a major cancer research centre. She continued nursing in England, first as a neonatal intensive care nurse and then as a research sister/manager within a breast care unit, where she worked for many years.

Kirshbaum's area of clinical and research expertise is in cancer and palliative care, specifically in exploring how people who suffer with debilitating fatigue can summon up sources of vitality and energy.
