Dr. Marilyn Luptak is an Associate Professor of Social Work and Chair of the MSW Aging Concentration at the University of Utah (UU). A native of western North Dakota and graduate of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Luptak brings 30+ years of social work experience in rural and urban settings, in public and private agencies, and in direct practice and management positions to her scholarly work to improve the health and well-being of older adults and their families. Her recent scholarship addresses health-mental health of older adults and family caregivers, end-of-life care, and interprofessional practice and education (IPE).

Dr. Luptak has established strong relationships locally and nationally, most notably with Nursing, Geriatrics, Educational Psychology and Psychiatry colleagues via the U.S. Veterans Affairs Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care and the U.S. Veterans Affairs Rural Health Resource Center. Additionally, as on community-based participatory studies addressing geriatric health-mental health, Dr. Luptak established ties with providers, successfully administered the projects and produced peer-reviewed presentations/publications.
