Marilyn L Slovak, PhD, FACMG is an ABMGG board certified Clinical Cytogeneticist with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Slovak received her PhD from the Cleveland State University with pre-doctoral fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and postdoctoral fellowship training at the University of Arizona. Dr. Slovak was a Clinical Cytogeneticist and Professor of Pathology at the City Hope National Comprehensive Cancer Center, an MDS Center of Excellence, for over 20 years before becoming Medical director of Cytogenetics at Sonora Quest Laboratory in Tempe, AZ. She has authored over 180 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is actively engaged in teaching opportunities. Dr. Slovak served on the International Cytogenetics Committee for Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and in collaboration with Dr. Peter Greenberg and the International Working Group for Prognosis in MDS (IWG-PM) revised the International Prognostic Scoring System or IPSS(1997) for MDS. Currently, she serves as a Clinical Cytogenetic Consultant providing consulting services for clinical cytogenetic laboratories with a primary focus on cancer Cytogenetics (leukemia, lymphoma and solid tumors).
