Dr. Marie Wheeler Having trained in the West Midlands and South west in Paediatrics, Marie has been a Paediatric Consultant in Gloucestershire since 2005, just prior Reconfiguration of the 2 acute Paediatric Units in Cheltenham and Gloucester so has worked through reconfiguration and the development of a 24 hour Paediatric Assessment Unit, development of Rapid Access Clinics and increased Consultant delivered Service. This has been linked with extended Resident hours, better support of juniors and better links with Primary care for acute Paediatric advice.

Marie has been the Acute Paediatric lead since 2017, with ongoing interest in improving Community interfaces, improving patient pathways and decreasing in-patient stay. Marie’s other interests lie in Paediatric Allergy and Education. She is a Foundation Programme Director in Gloucester, which keeps her in touch with the newest Doctors and Educational initiatives and RCPCH LTFT Advisor for Severn, where she aims to support young working parents and others working part time, often back in training after Out of Programme Experience.
