Dr. Marie Sinclair is one of five Austin Health researchers to receive a prestigious NHMRC 2017 Early Career Fellowship - in what is an extraordinary result for both the health service and the successful researchers. Dr. Sinclair's study will trial using testosterone and other therapies to increase muscle mass and treat malnutrition in liver transplant waiting list patients.

"Malnutrition and muscle wasting is an extremely important area for research. We've found that at least 70 to 80 percent of the patients on our liver transplant waiting list have malnutrition, to begin with, and they will only get worse while they're waiting. At the moment, we don't have any good ways to treat it.
