Dr. Marie R. Baldisseri, MD, MPH, FCCM, is a Professor Emeritus of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a distinguished intensivist whose career has spanned clinical leadership, global health, disaster response, neurocritical care, and education. She completed her MD at the University of Navarra, followed by an Internal Medicine residency and a Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), and later earned a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Baldisseri served as Co-Director of the Neurovascular ICU at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Program Director for Global Health in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, and Department Liaison to UPMC’s Quality and Improvement Initiative Committee, reflecting her dedication to excellence in patient care and systems improvement. She has been a leader within the Society of Critical Care Medicine, including serving as Chancellor of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (ACCM) and receiving honors such as the Safar Global Health Award and Distinguished Service Award. Her clinical expertise includes neurocritical care, obstetric critical care, disaster medicine, and quality/safety initiatives, and she has contributed extensively to education, global health training, and critical care scholarship over decades of service.
