Dr. Marie is an Assistant Professor with the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan. She is an RN with a PhD in Community Health and Epidemiology. Prior to teaching, Marie worked as a public health nurse for over twenty-five years in rural Saskatchewan. Her professional practice and research interests include public health nursing education and practice, early childhood, vulnerable populations, healthy public policy and knowledge translation. Her research explores the perspectives of program and policy recipients to facilitate a bottom-up policy development approach that informs policies at organizational and public policy levels. Marie is currently serving on the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) Public Health Task Force and on the Community Health Nurses of Canada (CHNC) Standards and Competence Standing Committee. Marie participated in the development of CASN's Guidelines for Quality Community Health Nursing Clinical Placements for baccalaureate nursing students as a member of CASN's Sub-Committee on Public Health. She was previously a member of the Public Health Agency of Canada's Immunization Education Working Group and the CHNC Professional Practice Model Expert Group.
