Dr. Gonzalez Carranza received her Master's Degree and Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Texas A&M University in 1998 and 2000, respectively. She joined the Oral Surgery Department after seven years of experience in Hospital and Clinic settings in Venezuela. She has been teaching for 11 years in the areas of Distraction Osteogenesis, Orthognathic Surgery, complex facial fractures, bone and soft tissue regeneration using BMP-2, dental implants, and cosmetic procedures for all craniofacial deformities.

Dr. Gonzalez effectively leads teams of undergraduates, graduate, and post-graduate students in caring for inpatient, outpatient, and surgical patients to ensure quality care. She has conducted research projects to develop and test surgical techniques to improve operating procedures and outcomes. A dedicated Faculty-student advisor, she is always available to the students for direction and advice. Also a mentor for a master's degree thesis for the departments of Orthodontics and Periodontics at Texas A & M College of Dentistry. Author or co-author for 20 abstracts, eight articles, and 23 book chapters. Dr. Gonzalez is fluent in Spanish and English and has published in both languages. She is the Editor of the textbook, “Intraoral Maxillofacial Distraction,” Wiley Co., President of the North Texas Oral Surgery Society, and a renowned National and International speaker.
