Graduate in Medicine at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1984) and got her Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Physiology from the University of São Paulo (1990) in which got the "Livre Docente" Professor position from the School of Medicine of USP (2005). She is currently a Professor of the Cardiopneumology Department and teacher and supervisor of the Post Graduation Program in cardiology and Experimental Physiopathology at the Medical School of the University of São Paulo. She carries out the medical function of the Hypertension unit and is the head of the laboratory of Experimental Hypertension, Heart Institute from Hospital Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo. She has experience in the field of Physiology, with an emphasis on Cardiovascular Physiology, working mainly on the following themes: diabetes, blood pressure, physical training, and hypertension. She was President of the Brazilian Society of Hypertension which currently participates in the Scientific Council. Protagonist in the open box platform of Science, as one of the 50 outstanding scientists in the area of Biological Sciences (Physiology) in Brazil.
