Maria Fitzpatrick

Maria’s nursing career has involved stroke and neurosciences. Maria is the lead nurse for hyper-acute stroke services across South East London. She oversees the acute, rehabilitation and outpatient stroke services across 4 sites over two hospital trusts. She acts as a specialist advisor/ consultant for other local stroke units and provides evidence based management strategies for patient pathways both locally and nationally. This involves the development of guidelines, protocols, research and audit. She represents nursing across London for the London Stroke Clinical Network Group. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team in managing the patient pathway from admission to transfer. She regulars teaches in Kings College Hospital (KCH) and Southbank to post registration nurses and multidisciplinary team members. Her role also includes research, audit and evaluation. Maria’s interests are in acute stroke care, palliative care and governance especially a duty of candour.
