Maria Bautista Durand is currently the acute care trauma nurse practitioner at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, a level 1 free standing pediatric trauma center. She has been in this position for 4 ½ years. She is a member of the pediatric surgery inpatient trauma team. Her roles are: responding to all trauma activations, independently evaluate any trauma consults, and assist with management of all admitted trauma patients. She is the Co-chair of the hospital’s Trauma Nursing Committee. Currently, she is the Chair of the Pediatric Committee for the Society of Trauma Nurses. She is also adjunct faculty for the School of Nursing at Azusa Pacific University. Her 20+ years of nursing experience has been in the setting of pediatric orthopedic trauma, pediatric surgical care, and pediatric critical care.
