Margo Mountjoy MD, PhD, CCFP, FCFP, FACSM

Margo Mountjoy is a clinician scientist. She received her medical education and her family medicine training at McMaster University, Canada. She obtained her sports medicine specialty degree from CASEM in Ottawa, Canada, and was the Clinical and Academic Lead at the Health & Performance Centre at the University of Guelph since 1988 where she has focused her practice on promoting elite athlete care and physical activity promotion in the general population. In addition, Margo has acted as the national team physician for Synchro Canada for 20 years as well as for Athletics Canada, National Triathlon, and Wrestling Canada team training centers.
Margo is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Family Medicine at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, McMaster University where she teaches sports medicine and is the Assistant Dean of Waterloo Regional Campus.

Margo is a member of the IOC Working Groups in Mental Health in Athletes as well in the Prevention of Harassment and Abuse in Sport. She is also the Chair of the ASOIF Medical Consultative Group and a member of the IOC Medical Commission Games Group, and the WADA Foundation Board (Deputy). She is a member of the IGF Golf Medical Committee, the World Rugby Anti-Doping Advisory Committee as well as the FIFA Scientific Advisory Board. She formerly was a member of the Executive Board of FINA with a portfolio of sports medicine. She has collaborated on projects with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and various academic institutions around the world.
