Margaret M. Johnson MD

Dr. Margaret M. Johnson received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. She completed her residency in medicine at Thomas Jefferson University and completed her fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Bowman Gray School of Medicine.

Johnson has practiced Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Mayo Clinic Florida since completion of post-graduate training in 1996. During both her training and professional career, she has had a vast breadth of opportunities in pulmonary medicine, critical care, basic and clinical research, education, and administrative leadership roles.

Currently, Johnson is the co-director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program at Mayo Clinic Florida. The Mayo Clinic Florida Cystic Fibrosis Center specializes in the care of adult patients and is accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The CF team includes physicians, nurse program coordinators, dietitians, genetic counselors, social workers, and respiratory therapists. Along with the immediate CF team listed above, there are providers available for endocrinology, ENT, gastroenterology, hepatology, infectious disease, and transplant. The staff works closely with the local Pediatric CF center to foster a smooth transition with the adolescent population. The center staff also works closely with the Transplant Center, and together, they have performed successful transplants in many patients with advanced CF lung disease.
