Dr. Margaret A. Chang, MD, MS, is a board-certified retina specialist and surgeon with Retinal Consultants Medical Group in Northern California, where she provides advanced care for a wide range of retinal and vitreous disorders. She is known for her clinical excellence, commitment to research, and compassionate approach to patient care.

Dr. Chang’s academic foundation is distinguished. She earned her medical degree (MD) and a master’s degree in biostatistics from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and received a full-tuition scholarship for her graduate studies.

She completed her ophthalmology residency and retina fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University, one of the nation’s top eye research and training centers. During her time there, she was the inaugural Mary Hutcheson Fellow and received prestigious honors, including the Heed and Michels fellowships, recognizing exceptional promise in vitreoretinal surgery and research.

Dr. Chang has been honored with several prizes and research grants and has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters in highly respected journals, such as Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, and Retina. Her research and clinical expertise encompass conditions like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and other complex retinal diseases.
