Marcus Harbord MBBS, PhD, FRCP

Dr Harbord was appointed a Consultant Physician & Gastroenterologist at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in 2006, specialising in inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer and colonoscopy. He is the Lead Clinician of the Gastroenterology Department. He was previously a consultant at the Royal Free Hospital. Qualifying from St Mary's, London in 1992, he trained at UCL, the Royal Free, and St Marks Hospitals. He holds a certificate for specialty training in both gastroenterology and general internal medicine.

He has published widely in inflammatory bowel disease and is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He was Chairman of the New Consultants’ Committee at the Royal College of Physicians 2009-2011; and an elected member of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) guidelines committee as of 2013. He is co-author of Emergencies in Gastroenterology & Hepatology, a new Oxford University Press textbook due to be published in Spring 2013
