Marcus D'souza MD

Marcus D Souza is a Senior Physician at the Department of Neurology and the Innovation Lab of the University Hospital Basel. He is the CEO of Neuro status-UHB AG. Studied medicine in Cologne (DE), New York City (USA), and Bochum (DE) and completed his training in Neurology in Bochum (DE) and Basel (CH). For more than 15 years he is interested in the standardization and improvement of clinical scales and measurement tools for quantifying disability in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or other neurological diseases. He has undertaken various research projects, including a collaborative project with Microsoft Research (Cambridge, UK), focusing on the development of a Kinect-based motion-capturing device for quantitative analysis of disability in MS. Further development of progression marker for tracking sustained disease progression in MS with the Neuro status-(e)EDSS. Consultant for the development of digital tools. Experience in verification and validation of digital systems (including IQs, OQs, and PQs).

He has the experience and a special interest in research and clinical care for Huntington's Disease. Focus on assessment of clinical and neuropsychological Symptoms. His special Interests are in digital biomarkers and in developing procedures for DCTs.
