Dr. Marcos Molina was born in Miami, Florida, and raised in the Pacific coastal city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. During his early years, he spent most of his time under his Father's tutelage acquiring his love of people, medicine, and surgery. As a young man, he worked as a volunteer at "El Tren de la Salud" a medical-relief organization that reached with free medical aid to the most rural and poorest areas of Ecuadorian Amazonia. These early experiences were instrumental to shape his character and strengthen his desire to follow medicine as his career of choice.
Dr. Molina moved to the U.S. to begin his undergraduate education at the University of Maryland. Then, he received his MD degree from the San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, graduating with Summa Cum Laude Honors in the class of 2012, therefore, becoming the fourth generation of his family to have attained the Doctor of Medicine degree. While in medical school, he held many leadership positions such as President of the Student Government Association and the Cardiothoracic Surgery Interest Group at his school, to name a few. During his senior year, he gained valuable surgical knowledge and experience as a Sub-Intern at Michael E. Debakey Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, as well as at the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Department at the University of Texas Southwestern. Furthermore, during his clinical year, he had the opportunity to work and develop a research-oriented mentality by working with U.S. leading cardiovascular investigators.
