Marco Van Brussel PhD

Dr. Marco van Brussel is currently a Medical Physiologist, a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, and a Senior Researcher at the Child Development & Exercise Center of the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (University Medical Center Utrecht). He is also an Associate Professor in Medicine and Clinical Health Sciences at the University of Utrecht, a.o. line coordinator of academic education. As a clinician and researcher, Dr. van Brussel is respectively working within ‘Child Health’ and in a field of investigation called ‘Paediatric Exercise Medicine’; where he applies advanced exercise testing and techniques for diagnostics and to determine the limitations of the human body in various chronic (pediatric) diseases. Furthermore, he was the chair of the exercise and rehabilitation (IG) group (within The International Myositis Assessment and Clinical Studies Group (IMACS)), the vice-chair of the Dutch Myoflammation consortium, a member of the Dutch OI group, and is an active member and chairman of the working group ‘research’ within the employee board of the Faculty Medicine of the UMC Utrecht. Finally, he is the author of multiple peer-reviewed articles and educative books.
