Marco Safadi is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Santa Casa de São Paulo School of Medicine, Brazil. After receiving his degree in medicine and a residency in pediatrics, he continued his medical training in pediatric infectious diseases at the Federal University of São Paulo. He received a master’s degree in pediatrics studying congenital toxoplasmosis in children, and a PhD on the impact of rotavirus vaccine on gastroenteritis hospitalizations in children. He is Head of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division at Sao Luiz Hospital and a Member of the Permanent Advisory Board on Immunization Practices of the Ministry of Health in Brazil.

Prof. Safadi is an active member of the Committee of Pediatric Infectious Diseases for the Society of Pediatrics, São Paulo, and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases for the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, ESPID (European Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases), the International Scientific Committee for WSPID, and in 2011 was appointed a Liaison representative for SLIPE (Sociedad Latinoamericana de Infectología Pediátrica) at the Committee on Infectious Diseases (COID) from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Prof. Safadi has authored papers on immunization, meningococcal and pneumococcal infections, congenital toxoplasmosis, influenza, rotavirus gastroenteritis, HPV, and community-acquired infections.
