Dr hab. Marcin Gruchała was born in 1971 in Wejherowo. He is a graduate of GUMed in 1996, an associate professor of GUMed, specialist in internal medicine and cardiology as well as the head of the 1st Chair and Clinic of Cardiology. In the term 2012-2016 he was a vice-rector for student affairs, he was a member of the Senate budget and finance committee for the 2008-2012 and 2012-2016 terms. He was the proxy of the Rector of GUMed for the construction of the Center for Noninvasive Medicine. He was a long-time guardian of the Student Scientific Club, honored twice with the Red Rose award for the best student circle of the Tri-City. He received the degree of doctor of medical sciences in 2000, and the postdoctoral degree of medical sciences, in the field of cardiology in 2006.
He is the deputy clinical coordinator of the UCK Cardiology Center. The main clinical and scientific interests are: coronary heart disease, hypertension in patients with coronary heart disease, heart failure, heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, genetic and environmental factors of atherosclerosis development and its complications, familial hypercholesterolemia. In 1996 he completed a three-month clinical internship at the Thorax Center of the University Hospital in Rotterdam as part of the TEMPUS program, and in 2000-2002 a two-year postdoctoral scientific internship at the AI ​​Virtanen Institute for Molecular Medicine at the Medical University of Kuopio in Finland as a scholarship holder of the Foundation for the Rech of Polish Science .
