Marcia C. Haigis, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA and a member of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging. Following graduate training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Biochemistry, Dr. Haigis studied the molecular role of SIR2 (silent information regulator) proteins during her postdoctoral research at MIT. She has contributed to understanding the role that mitochondrial sirtuins play in metabolism and disease. She has received a number of awards, including the Ellison Medical Foundation New Scholar Award and the Brookdale Foundation Leadership in Aging Award.
