Marcelo Ribeiro MD, MSc, Ph.D., FACS, FISS, ACC (Hon)

Dr. Marcelo Ribeiro is a Consultant General Surgeon and the Division Chair of Trauma, Burns, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi. With over three decades of experience, Dr. Ribeiro has extensive expertise in the fields of acute care and trauma surgery with a training background in gastrointestinal and Hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery. He received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Catholic University of São Paulo, Brazil, a Master in Surgery (MSc), and a Ph.D. from the Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil. In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Ribeiro has a special interest in medical education and research as he is a mentor for Master’s and Ph.D. students, residents, and post-graduation students and has published more than 200 papers discussing a wide range of disorders, procedures, and complex cases, 4 published books, and over 100 book chapters.
