Marcelline Goyen has over 20 years of work experience as a skin therapist. In her search for the how and why of skin problems, she came across the role of the intestines, which is very logical in retrospect. After training as a gut therapist, she was able to combine both fields and in this way work with people with various skin problems with new insights. In this relatively new field, research turned out to be necessary in order to provide a basis for skin treatments from the skin-intestine perspective. In addition to various practical trajectories in which she successfully treated people with, among other things, eczema, she worked for more than 6 years on the research for this book. Not a final destination, according to the author, but a signpost for anyone who is looking for more insight and scientific substantiation in 'the skin-gut connection'.
'The book 'The skin-gut connection or the skin-gut axis' by Marcelline Goyen has literally become a bulky work. Not only because of the large number of pages. And not just because of the large number of scientific publications used to justify the text. It is also 'bulky' because it is about the human body. Goyen describes in great detail and with eagerness how the surface of the human body is equipped to interact with its environment. She also makes this interaction understandable and logical.
