Professor Marc De Broe is Emeritus Professor of Medicine University of Antwerp. He was formerly head of the department of Nephrology, Hypertension Renal transplantation University of Antwerp, Director of the Renal Research Unit of the Faculty of Medicine University of Antwerp, Dean of the faculty of Medicine and in 2000 initiated the Armenian Transplantation Project of the University of Antwerp. He is a Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, Associate Editor of Kidney International, Member of the Africa commission of the ISN, Scientific adviser of the Physiopathology Research Unit, University Antwerp. Along with Professor Mohammed Ben Gharbi and scientific adviser of MAREMAR, Professor De Broe initiated a screening and preventive treatment program in the Kingdom of Morocco which started November 2009 and will end in November 2015. Support from WHO, ISN, Moroccan Society of Nephrology and particularly the Ministry of Health of the Moroccan Kingdom has been obtained. Professor De Broe’s CME topics include nephrotoxicity, experimental and clinical; acute kidney injury, experimental; calcium phosphate metabolism, clinical, experimental (vascular calcifications); use of Immunosuppressive drugs in renal transplantation programs in developing countries.
