Mara Gerloni, PhD, is a seasoned biotechnology executive, immunologist, and translational scientist with more than three decades of experience in oncology drug discovery, cancer immunotherapy, vaccine development, and gastrointestinal research. She currently serves as Global Head of Translational Science at Cosmo Pharmaceuticals, where she leads scientific initiatives spanning gastroenterology, oncology, dermatology, and innovative medical technologies.
Gerloni earned her doctoral training in Microbiology and Virology and completed advanced research at the University of California, San Diego, where she developed novel immunological approaches using antibody engineering and DNA-based vaccination strategies targeting infectious diseases. Her early research included collaborations focused on vaccine development and immune-based therapies.
Throughout her distinguished career, Gerloni has played leadership roles in the discovery and development of immunotherapies, cancer vaccines, and translational research programs. Her expertise spans cellular immunology, immune regulation, inflammatory diseases, infectious disease immunology, and oncology.
