Manuel Duarte DC, MSAc, DABCO, DACBSP

Dr. Duarte is a professor at the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. He has many years’ experience teaching classes in spinal and extremity adjusting, kinesiology, and case management for the Chiropractic Department. Currently the Chair of Clinical Practice overseeing the Chiropractic, Naturopathic, and Oriental Medicine programs in National University’s seven clinics, Dr. Duarte has also served as a clinician in the Lombard Clinic. He has served on numerous university committees and is dedicated to scholarly activities, community service, and research. Dr. Duarte is the director of Body Fitness Physical Medicine and Sports Injury Clinic in Shorewood, Illinois, and has written many articles on topics such as sports medicine, orthopedics, and acupuncture. He is a certified practitioner of flexion distraction, kinesio tape, SpiderTech, Graston, and McKenzie techniques.

With extensive training in orthopedics, sports injuries, and acupuncture, Dr. Duarte holds a diplomate status from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists, and the American Board of Chiropractic Acupuncturists. Dr. Duarte is a well-known lecturer and author, both nationally and internationally, and is a frequent speaker at local and state chiropractic associations. As a postgraduate professor, he has taught classes in the Chiropractic Certification Program of Sports, the Sports Diplomate Program, the Orthopedic Diplomate Program, low back stabilization programs, and acupuncture certification. Multiply degreed, Dr. Duarte holds a Master of Science degree from Long Island University in rehabilitation and developmental disabilities and a Masters degree in Acupuncture from the National University of Health Sciences, from which he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was the valedictorian of his class. Dr. Duarte is represented frequently in community outreach programs including Kiwanis of Shorewood, Joliet Business Referral Inc., Mark Staehely Foundation, Shorewood Referral Alliance, and Shorewood Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Duarte is also a member of many professional associations, including the American Chiropractic Association and the Illinois Chiropractic Association.
