Manuel Barreiro Perez MD, PhD

Dr. Manuel Barreiro Perez is the current President of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. He is the Head of Cardiology Imaging at the University of Salamanca. Dr. Perez is a Doctor of Medicine, a Specialist in Cardiology, with a Subspecialty in Multimodal Cardiovascular Imaging (Echocardiography, CCT, CMR) with accreditation by International Scientific Societies in these disciplines. He is a Coordinator of the Advanced Cardiac Imaging Unit, Cardiology Service, at Alvaro Cunqueiro University Hospital. He is a member of the Cardiovascular Research Group of the Galicia Sur Health Research Institute (ISGS). The main lines of research are in multimodal imaging in ischemic heart disease and structural intervention.

Dr. Perez has been the Director of the Practical Course "Hands-on" in Cardio-MR and CT since 2016. He is the Director of several SEC Courses in Advanced Cardiac Imaging and is a Professor in Cardio-MRI University Master's, with a University Master's Degree in Diagnostic Imaging in Cardiology, and University Master's Degree in Endovascular Interventionism. He is an affiliate member of the Spanish and European Society of Cardiology and a member of the Board of Directors of the MRI and CT Working Group of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. Dr. Perez is a member of the Training Commission of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and is responsible for the National Registry of Cardiac Imaging of the Spanish Society of Cardiology.
