Dr. Manuel Amaris is an associate professor and the motility program director at the University of Florida Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. Prior to arriving at UF, he was a regional expert in GI mortality and functional disorders at Southern Illinois University.

He received his medical degree from the Universidad del Rosario School of Medicine in Colombia, his birth country, followed by completing three research fellowships in GI Motility at the University of Alberta in Canada. He completed his internal medicine residency at Stroger Hospital of Cook County and Rush Medical College in Chicago and an NIH-sponsored fellowship in gastroenterology with an emphasis in GI Motility at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
