Dr. Manoj Mohanan is a Visiting Senior Fellow at Artha Global. He is an Associate Professor at Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. He also holds secondary appointments in the Department of Economics and the Global Health Institute. As an applied microeconomist, he works on topics related to the economics of health and development. His research focuses on topics including performance-based contracts, measurement of provider quality and performance, social franchising, and social accountability/monitoring.
Manoj also studies the role of subjective expectations in healthcare behavior and how information structures within social networks influence participation in collective action. His research has included evaluations of policies and programs in the health sector in India and other countries such as Rwanda and Kenya. Manoj received his undergraduate degree in medicine from Grant Medical College, Mumbai. He holds a master's degree in public health from Harvard Chan School of Public Health and a PhD in Health Policy (Economics) from Harvard University.
