Dr. Magdalena Kowalewicz-Kulbat, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Biology at the University of Lodz. Her Clinical Interests are Immunology of Infectious Diseases, Immunity, Tuberculosis, Mycobacteria, and Dendritic Cells. Her main research interests are cellular mechanisms underlying the phenomenon of polarization of the immune system and the search for new immunomodulators in infectious and allergic diseases. For over 20 years she has been studying host-pathogen interactions at the cellular level, with particular emphasis on the importance of dendritic cells. She is interested in the processes occurring in the immune synapse in response to the BCG anti-tuberculosis vaccine, inhalant allergens, and microorganisms causing respiratory diseases, as well as the use of dendritic cells in clinical immunology and vaccinology.
