Magali graduated with a BA (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Leeds in 2003 and completed an MSc in Forensic Psychology from the School of Psychology at the University of Kent in 2010. In 2015, she was awarded a PhD by the Center of Research and Education in Forensic Psychology titled "The characteristics and treatment needs of adult male imprisoned fire setters", supervised by Prof Theresa Gannon.

Magali's past academic employment includes working on various research projects for the Center of Research and Education in Forensic Psychology at the University and Forensic Service Lines in the NHS (Research and Development). Magali has been employed by the Tizard Center since 2013 and worked on several projects researching older adults with learning disabilities, and offenders and ex-offenders with learning disabilities. Since August 2017, Magali has been a Lecturer at the Tizard Centre and is currently working on the MATCH project - an NIHR grant awarded to Prof. Peter Langdon investigating people with Autism detained within hospitals. The project aims to define the population, understand aetiology and improve the care pathways of offenders diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
