Madeleine Caven is a Graduate Medicine candidate in the ScotGEM program at the University of St Andrews, with a First Class Honours BSc Psychology degree and a Masters by Research in Medicine, focusing on Hepatitis C epidemiology and public health research. She has worked in clinical research teams both at the University of Dundee and in the medical technology sector on translational research on Hepatitis C elimination, reducing drug-related deaths, and utilizing innovative AI-driven wearable technology to reduce fatal opioid overdose deaths in Scotland. She is currently an Associate Research staff member at the University of Dundee, with active involvement in Hepatitis C elimination projects. She has multiple peer-reviewed publications, having presented at national and international research conferences. She has a strong interest in women's health, public health, healthcare accessibility, and psychiatry. She is passionate about being involved in work and research that seeks to support and improve health for all, with a keen focus on reducing health inequalities in marginalized populations. She is currently a contributing writer for Her Campus St Andrews, a chapter of the international online publication, Her Campus Media. She has a particular interest in writing articles on women's health and rights.
