Dr. Maarten Van Genechten obtained his degree in Arts at the University of Antwerp. After his dentistry training at the KULeuven, he completed his specialized training as an Oral, Maxillofacial, and Maxillofacial Surgeon at the University Hospital of Leuven, the ZMACK in Antwerp, and the University Hospital of Brussels.

In 2014 he moved to Australia after being selected for a certified fellowship as Fellow Head and Neck Reconstruction Surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane Australia. There he specialized in performing complex facial reconstructions in the context of head and neck oncology, congenital facial pathologies, and facial trauma. During this nearly 2-year fellowship, he also held a position as an Assistant Professor at the University of Queensland and was awarded a research fellowship by the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS) Foundation for his published work on facial reconstructions.

After successfully completing his fellowship in facial reconstructions, he started a certified fellowship as a Fellow of Facial Plastic Surgery at the Australasian Academy for Facial Plastic Surgery (FAAFPS) in 2016. During this 1-year fellowship, he perfected his knowledge and surgical skills in all aspects of aesthetic facial surgery with an emphasis on rhinoplasties, face and neck lifts, eyelid corrections, brow lifts, and non-invasive procedures such as botox and filler injections.

With this, he completed his skills as a reconstructive and aesthetic facial surgeon. He currently functions as a full-time staff member at the ZMACK in Antwerp with particular expertise in facial aesthetic surgery, reconstructive head, and neck surgery, and orthognathic surgery.
