Mandalam S. Seshadri MBBS, MD, PhD, FRCP

Dr. M S Seshadri is a retired Professor & Head of Endocrinology & Medicine, Christian Medical College, Vellore, and currently a Medical Director at Thirumalai Mission Hospital, Ranipet, Tamil Nadu.

Professor Seshadri completed his undergraduate studies at Coimbatore Medical College in 1972. He had a brilliant academic career as a student, obtaining a first class in all subjects and graduating as the best outgoing student not only in his College but at Madras University as well. In 1974, he joined the Department of Medicine in CMC for his postgraduate studies, and subsequently, in 1977, he began his three-and-a-half decade-long association with CMC in the Department of Medicine Unit 2.

In 1983, Dr. Seshadri went to the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney to pursue a doctorate in Endocrinology. He worked under Professor Solomon Posen, a doyen in the field of calcium and metabolic bone diseases. During the course of his doctoral studies, Dr. Seshadri was able to acquire valuable laboratory and research experience, and his work on PTH, Vitamin D, and oncogenic osteomalacia was ground-breaking.
