Lutz Frölich is full Professor in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Heidelberg and author of more than 120 original and review publications in peer-reviewed journals, 10 text book chapters and 7 books/monographs on dementia-related themes. After qualifying as a physician in 1982, he studied psychotherapy and in 1996 completed his habilitation in psychiatry (equivalent to a PhD thesis) on the subject of insulin in the brain in Alzheimer’s disease. Between 1994 and 2003 he was attending physician at the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University of Frankfurt/Main. His main research interests are in clinical and neuroimaging in dementia, risk factors, interaction between geriatric diseases and psychiatric disorders in the elderly, drug treatment analysis and standardization, development and evaluation of guidelines, and the design and conduct of clinical trials.
