Lukas Rob, MD, PhD, born 1958 in the Czech Republic, received his medical degree in 1983. He underwent training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Oncogynecology at the 1st Medical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague (till 1996). Since then he has been practicing at the 2nd Medical Faculty as a Head of Oncogynecology Center (1996- 2002) and a Vice-head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2000-2002). Currently he is a Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2002- now) and a Head of the Oncogynecology Center at University Hospital Motol (2002- now). This center is one of the largest in the Czech Republic. Annually there are 120-140 women treated for cervical cancer, 25-30 for vulvar cancer, 80-100 for ovarian, 80 -100 for endometrial and 100 for breast cancer.
Dr. Rob´s research is focused on gynecologic oncology, primarily in the area of women’s malignancies with particular emphasis on the cervical and vulvar cancer, sentinel lymph node mapping in cervical and vulvar cancer, fertility sparing surgery in cervical cancer, precancer vulvar and cervical lesions, HPV vaccination and gestational trophoblastic disease. Dr. Rob is lecturing locally and nationally on the treatment of women with gynecological cancer and published several original papers and reviews. He was a Council member of ESGO (2002-2006), a Vice-president of ESGO (2006-2008), and currently a President of the Czech Oncogynecological Society, member of IGCS and SGO.
