Luis Alcocer Diaz Barreiro is currently Director General of the Mexican Institute of Cardiovascular Health and Vice. President (President-elect) of IASH (Inter-American Society of Hypertension). Dr. Alcocer is an Academic Emeritus of the National Academy of Surgery and Head Honorary Member of the Mexican Society of Cardiology. He is also a certified member of the Mexican Council of Cardiology since 1979. President Emeritus of the Latin American Society of Hypertension (LASH-Mexico) President of the Internationational Lipid Information Bureau (ILIB-Mexico), former president of the Interamerican Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics ( ISCPT) of the Latin American Society of Hypertension (LASH), the Latin American Society of Heart Failure (LASHEFA), the Mexican Council of Arterial Hypertension of the Mexican Society for the Study of Hypertension.
As part of its medical activities, Dr. Luis Alcocer belongs to various professional associations and organizations among which the Mexican Academy of Surgery, the Mexican Society of Cardiology, the Mexican Council of Cardiology Interamerican Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Former President), the Mexican Society for the Study of Hypertension (Ex founding president), the Mexican Council of Hypertension (former president), Latin American Society of Hypertension (former president), American Society of Hypertension, American Heart Association, Interamerican Society of Cardiology, Interamerican Society of Hypertension, International Lipid Information Bureau, the Procardias of Uruguay (Honorary), the Peruvian Society of Cardiology (Honorary Member), the Ecuadorian Society of Cardiology (Honorary), Venezuelan Society of Hypertension and Foundation the Investigation Council of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
currently is Associate Editor of Therapeutic Advances in Cardiovascular Disease and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Hypertension.
Dr. Alcocer Diaz Barreiro has written more than 20 technical books and has collaborated on 25 international treaties with some chapters on cardiology. There are 204 papers published in international journals and has participated in more than 1,500 courses in continuing medical education in Mexico, Latin America, the USA, and Europe, as well as visiting professor, as an organizer.
