Lucres Nauta-jansen MS, PhD

Lucres Nauta-Jansen is a principal investigator and head of the research group Youth at Risk at the Department of Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry & Psychosocial Care, Amsterdam Public Health Research Institute, Amsterdam UMC. She is originally trained as a biomedical scientist at Leiden University. During her studies, she became interested in the field of biological psychiatry. Immediately after graduating, she began a Ph.D. project at both the dept. of Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry and the dept. of Adult Psychiatry at the UMC Utrecht. In 1999 she achieved her Ph.D. degree on her thesis 'Impaired stress processing in autistic-like disorders and schizophrenia' (promotors: Prof. dr. H. van Engeland and Prof. dr. R.S. Kahn, co-promotor dr. C.C. Gispen-de Wied). After two post-doc positions, first at the Dept. of Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry, UMC Utrecht, and subsequently at the Dept. of General Education, Utrecht University, Faculty of Social Sciences, she was awarded a fellowship from the Dutch Brain Foundation (Hersenstichting Nederland), which enabled her to continue her research on stress processing in autism. From 2003 to 2006 she worked as a clinical assessor at the Medical Evaluation Board of the Netherlands (College ter Beoordeling van Geneesmiddelen, CBG) as well as a senior researcher at the Dept. of Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry of the VUmc Amsterdam. In 2006, she accepted a full-time appointment at the dept. of Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry and she is now the supervisor of several Ph.D. projects regarding both neurobiological and epidemiological research in forensic child- and adolescent psychiatry. Her main research focus is the neurobiological background of antisocial and delinquent behavior. In addition, she is involved in the scientific education of medical students at the Medical Faculty of the VU University. She is a member of several educational committees and is also the scientific internship coördinator of the depts. of Child-and Adolescent as well as Adult Psychiatry.
