Lucile Burgo-Black, MD, FACP, is a general internist and assistant clinical professor at Yale. For 30 years she has provided primary care at the West Haven, Connecticut, Veterans Affairs Medical Center to all cohorts of veterans and works with medical students and residents. She has served in local and regional primary care leadership positions and is the national co-director of the Post Deployment Integrated Care Initiative for Veterans Health Administration. For many years she has been involved in local and national pain care improvement initiatives and systems improvement around safe opioid prescribing. She is interested in new models of care, especially interprofessional team care for the management of complex chronic pain in the primary care setting.
