Prof. Dr. Lucian Dorobantu is a primary cardiovascular surgery physician and coordinator of the Cardiomyopathy Center, the center specialized in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. He is also part of the surgical team of the Cardiac Center at the Monza Hospital.

Dr. Dorobantu is a Doctor of Medicine, title obtained in 2008, and head of studies at the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery within the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. CC Iliescu", Bucharest.

Dr. Dorobantu has extensive operating experience, being the first operator since 2004 at the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof.Dr. CC Iliescu" from Bucharest. He specializes in mitral and aortic valve plastics ( repair ), rare operations in Romania, and practices all other types of operations in adult cardiac pathology: classical and minimally invasive valve replacements (prostheses), standard and integral arterial aortocoronary bypass, aorta and aortic root replacements with and without preservation of the native aortic valve, cure surgical treatment of mechanical complications of acute myocardial infarction, aortic dissections, etc.

Dr. Dorobantu was part, as the head of the surgical part, of the team that carried out the first intervention at the national level to install an ECMO circulatory support device. He proposed, for the first time in the world, a new angioaccess technique for hemodialysis patients, brachio-brachial arterio-venous fistula, for which he was nominated for the " Young Vascular Surgeon of the Year " award of the European Society of Cardiovascular Surgery (2007). The publication of the method, which took place in 2006, benefited, a year later, from a review of the journal Nature Clinical Practice, in the "Research Highlights" section.
