Dr. Lucia De Gregorio Muniz, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in transplant surgery. Dr. De Gregorio Muniz earned her medical degree at Universidad Complutense in Madrid. She completed a residency in general and gastrointestinal surgery at the Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro, also in Madrid. Then, following a research fellowship in surgical oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and a certificate in biostatistics at Harvard University, she received advanced training in abdominal transplant surgery through a fellowship at the Ochsner Multi-Organ Transplant Institute in New Orleans. Certified by the Transplant Accreditation and Certification Council, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

Dr. De Gregorio Muniz’s research interests include transplant surgery and surgical oncology. She is a member of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American Society of Transplantation, the European Society for Surgical Research, the Spanish Society of Surgeons, and the Spanish Society of Surgical Oncology.
