Louis-philippe Boulet MD, FRCPC

Dr. Boulet is a respirologist at the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute, a professor of medicine at the Department of Medicine of Laval University, and holds a chair in Knowledge Translation, Education and Prevention in Respiratory and Cardiorespiratory Health at Laval University. He is also Chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA); the first vice-president of InterAsma, the Global Asthma Association; and a member of many Canadian and International medical societies and guidelines committees. He is the past chair of the Canadian Thoracic Society (CTS) and of the CTS Respiratory Guidelines Committee and was a founding member of the Quebec Respiratory Health Education Network.

In addition to his clinical practice and teaching, Dr. Boulet runs a research program focused mainly on the themes of asthma phenotypes; airway responses, inflammation and remodeling; respiratory allergy; respiratory health of athletes; and knowledge translation and health education. His research seeks to establish links between basic and clinical science in the field of asthma and respiratory allergy. He has undertaken collaborative studies on the mechanisms of asthma development, with a particular focus on: airway function; inflammation and structure changes in high-risk groups; and the influence of obesity, high-level exercise training (athletes), exposure to substances such as allergens and occupational agents, and various therapeutic and educational interventions.

Dr. Boulet is frequently invited as a speaker at national and international meetings. He has written more than 650 medical publications, in addition to 633 abstracts and 43 book chapters, and he has edited/authored 17 books.
