Lorien S. Dalrymple is the Vice President of Epidemiology and Research at Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA). She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Duke University, her Medical Degree from the University of Colorado, and her Master of Public Health from the University of Washington. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship Training at the University of Washington. Before joining FMCNA, she was an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of California Davis where she had been on the faculty for nine years.

Dr. Dalrymple has undertaken numerous research studies related to chronic kidney disease and its associated complications. In recent years her research has focused on the causes and consequences of hospitalization, particularly related to infection, among adults receiving dialysis. She is a member of the National Quality Forum Renal Standing Committee and has previously been engaged in research related to quality indicators in healthcare. In addition, she served on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Technical Expert Panel assessing prevalent co-morbidity adjustment for standardized hospitalization and mortality measures.
