Dr. Yamamoto is a Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Chair of Finance. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). He has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 100 abstracts, 75 electronic publications, 50 reference and textbook chapters, and 130 national research/educational presentations.
Dr. Yamamoto serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Care. He is the Chief Editor of Radiology Cases In Pediatric Emergency Medicine, a CD and Web-based educational program for which he received the AAP Professional Medical Education Award in 1996. He is also the author of Tidbits on Raising Children (a parenting book), Challenging Cases in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (an AAP publication), Pediatric Radiology Review, and is the Chief Editor for Case-Based Pediatrics For Medical Students and Residents (the pediatrics book published by our department of pediatrics) and an editor for Strange and Schafermeyer’s Pediatric Emergency Medicine textbook.
He is formerly a member of AAP’s Pedialink Editorial Board, Committee on Pediatric Emergency Medicine (COPEM), National Conference & Exhibition Planning Group, Committee on CME, Committee on Scientific Meetings, AAP/ACEP APLS Steering Committee (former editor and chair), and a former appointee of the American Board of Pediatrics Emergency Medicine Sub-board. He is the recipient of the Martha Bushore-Fallis Advanced Pediatric Life Support Award from the National AAP in 2018. Dr. Yamamoto was previously the Chief of Staff for Kapi‘olani Medical Center For Women & Children (KMCWC) (2014 to 2020) and a member of the Medical Executive Committee, the Credentials Committee, and the Environment of Care Committee.
