Lone Skov MD, PhD

Dr. Lone Skov is a Professor and Senior Physician in the Department of Dermatology and Allergy at the University of Copenhagen’s prestigious Herlev and Gentofte Hospital. She was awarded her Professorship in Dermatology at the Faculty of Health Sciences from the University of Copenhagen in 2009 in recognition of her extensive contributions and training in Dermato-venerology. Since 2013, she has been a Coordinating Professor for one of the largest hospitals in the Copenhagen area.

Her current research includes projects investigating co-morbidity in psoriasis, primarily diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and clinical intervention studies in psoriasis. She is also working with immunological studies of eczema and psoriasis with the characterization of lymphocyte subtypes, their function, their phenotype, and their regulatory mechanisms.

Dr. Lone qualified in Medicine in 1990 and went on to pursue a Ph.D., both at the University of Copenhagen. Her Ph.D. work focused on superantigens as a possible activation mechanism for atopic dermatitis. Dr. Lone went on to complete her specialization in dermato-venerology in 2001 and a Doctorate of Medical Sciences in 2006. Dr. Lone has published more than 250 PubMed-cited articles.
