Dr. Faia received her Bachelor of Science degree from the George Washington University and her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. She completed her internship at UCLA – VA Greater Los Angeles Internal Medicine Program and residency at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.
She then went on to specialty training at the National Eye Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where she completed a two-year fellowship in Uveitis and Medical Retina. While there, she participated in both clinical and basic science research while completing her clinical duties. From there, she completed a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants, William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan.
Dr. Faia is a board certified ophthalmologist with special interest and expertise in the surgical and medical management of uveitis, as well as vitreoretinal diseases, such as diabetes, macular degeneration, and vein occlusions. She is involved in a wide array of both basic science and clinical studies in uveitic and vitreoretinal diseases. Dr. Faia has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of uveitis and retina and authored and/or co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews on these subjects.
