Lisa E. Thompson MD MBA

Dr. Lisa Thompson is currently a medical director at Anthem. She joined the Nevada Medicaid division of Anthem in 2017. She provides clinical leadership to the health plan team, oversees program ideation and implementation, and serves as one of the principal medical advisors to the company’s executive leadership.

Dr. Thompson is board certified in both emergency medicine and hospice/palliative medicine. Prior to joining Anthem, she had a 20+ year clinical career providing direct patient care in both specialties and in a variety of care settings including the Navajo reservation and on-line care. She was one of the first telehealth providers to join American Well (Amwell) in 2010. As a member of their Online Care Group, she performed thousands of virtual urgent care encounters through the Amwell and LiveHealthOnline telemedicine platforms. At one time she possessed 35 state medical licenses so that she could provide online care to patients across the country.

In 2019, Dr. Thompson completed a master’s in business administration degree with a concentration in health care administration through the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Isenberg School of Management. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. Dr. Thompson works and resides in New York City.
